The design idea of Mo Bench is to create a simple modular system that can flexibly respond to the efficiency and functionality of the room. Even though this particular bench is intended for waiting room area or indoor public space, its also ideally suitable for living room inside a residential home. With no extraneous detailing, single symmetrical curvature is made in a 45cmx45cm shape.
Each piece of the rattan is managed in a formative and repetitive manner which, then creates an individual group of a quarter circle shaped benches. Much of the structural inputs comes from repetition and visual progression. The curvature on the top side of the bench provides comfortable ergonomic seating. The combination of each section would create different seating configurations, therefore providing additional adaptability with any room spaces.

The project started when the designer, Tunjung Ismoedi, is looking for a way to create a flexible material with different way of thinking that can result in unique structure in furniture. The material should be environmentally friendly material.
The chair is intended for the living room or common area usage. It is emphasized on the use of square shaped rattan material to create aesthetical and functional product. The designer is trying to emphasize on the uniqueness of the material by combining lines of rattan poles into a structurally strong configuration that offers a rewarding sitting experience and innovative visual expression.
The initial idea was generated by folding piece of paper and manipulating it to create connectivity between seating section, backrest section, and armrest. The back and seating sections are created from long repetitive grids of rattan. Much of the structural inputs comes from repetition and visual progression. Each poles are integrated in curvious forms that ended on the legs sections. It looks like groups of loops and curves of highway road system.
